Due to special requests from Classical Conversations families, we updated our Cycle 2 planners to include reading correlations, book lists, and a Memory Work Review plan to keep the memory work fresh without review becoming cumbersome and overwhelming. Check it out here.
If you’re interested in a basic planner without the booklist, reading correlations, and memory work review plan, we’ve offered several free options in this post. We offer a variety because, as our own personal planner has morphed over the years, we’ve continued to receive requests for past planners I’ve made. Thus, we keep them all here so you can choose your favorite. 🙂
Just remember… plans are just plans. For our family, having a general idea of where we wanted to be at the end of each six-week period was incredibly helpful, but I did not write those details into our weekly planner pages. Before using our Mission: Faith Forgers curriculum, I used our planner pages to record what we actually did instead of what we were planning to do, which saved me quite a bit of erasing. To see an example of a general plan, scroll to the bottom of this post. For scheduling math or phonics, I now use the six-week planning pages in our extra planning pages provided in our new Cycle 2 Planner.
Cycle 2 with the Great Commission in Mind
Not sure how to plan out lessons? We’ve done it for you! After designing curriculum plans for nearly a decade, we’ve developed a Christian Classical Curriculum plan that integrates the study of the world and the ongoing fulfillment of the Great Commission, with a focus on loving God, His Word, and fellow mankind. For a reading/curriculum plan that overlaps much of the memory work studied during Cycle 2 – with an integrated study of church history, world history/geography, science, and fine arts, check out our Mission: Faith Forgers Curriculum Plan.
Note: Although Mission: Faith Forgers is not directly correlated to the memory work, it includes a more complete study of astronomy, physical science, and history. The books selected for this reading plan were chosen as long-term resources for students to use when they embark on research and world geography memorization in grades 7+. This study has been designed to be used independently of Classical Conversations®. For families who use Classical Conversations®, the readings assigned in the Mission: Faith Forgers study overlaps much of the memory work studied during Cycle 2 but is not correlated week by week. This provides an opportunity for ongoing review and integration of the memory work throughout the year.
Note: The following planners may be used with the Foundations Guide 4th or 5th Edition from Classical Conversations. The memory work topics are not included in these planners because the memory work topics organized by week number are considered copyright-protected material.
By using our materials, you agree that you will not upload these files (or altered versions of these files) to other websites (including Facebook). When sharing the content of Half-a-Hundred Acre Wood with others, please share links to our posts. Thank you so much!
CC Cycle 2 Planners: Double-Page Spreads
In the following planners, a week is spread across a 2-page layout.
Planner #1: Click on the image below to take a look at our Updated CC Cycle 2 Planner with booklists, reading correlations, and a memory work review plan.
Planner #2: Weekly Planner in Modern Format.
Download Blank Cycle 2 Planner Update: 5-Day Week
Download Blank Cycle 2 Planner Update: 4-Day Week
Planner #3: Double-Page Planner, traditional style. Same as above but spread across two pages to allow more space for handwriting. (Note: Our planners with a double-page layout are formatted to be printed duplex-style (both sides/front-to-back).)
We have 2 versions of this planner for you to download in either PDF or Excel format:
- Planner #3a lists the days of the week as Monday – Friday: PDF version :: MS Excel version
- Planner #3b lists the days of the week as Day 1 – Day 5, in case you would like to start your week with your community day: PDF version :: MS Excel version
Planner #4: Double-Page Planner, checklist-style. In this planner (shown below), the curriculum choices are listed on the left, and lessons can be jotted down under each day. The section on the bottom right is for reading selections and other general plans/goals. The rest of the pages is where I would list what we actually did. Download Planner #4: PDF version :: MS Excel version
Planner #5: Double-Page Planner, Lesson & Time Tracking. I made this one when someone requested a way to better track times along with lessons for reporting purposes. Again, the section on the bottom right is for reading selections and other general plans/goals. The rest of the page is where I would list what we actually did. Download Planner #5: PDF version :: MS Excel version
CC Cycle 2 Planners: Single-Page Layout
Planner #6: Single-Page Planner, Lesson Tracking. In this planner (shown below), the curriculum choices are listed on the left of each page, and lessons can be jotted down under each day. There is just one version of this planner in Monday – Friday format. In the image below, the screen shot on the right is an example of how the planner page might look when you have filled it out for three students. Download Planner #7: PDF version :: MS Excel version
The planner shown above is also available in a 2-page layout: PDF Version :: MS Excel
Planner #7: Single-Page Planner, Checklist Style. This planner provides space for you to write in lessons, pages, or activities for an entire week (for those like me who struggle with doing it daily), and then checking off or writing in the time for each item. Download Planner #4: PDF version :: MS Excel version
The image on the left is a blank page, and the image on the right is an example of what it might look like after being filled in with lessons for multiple students. To further explain: You can list the curriculum under each subject heading as shown in the image below. On a weekly basis, you can list lessons, pages, or activities, and under each day, you can either check the box (Sample 1), record times (Sample 2), or record specific lesson or page numbers (Sample 3).
Also be sure to download a yearly school calendar from Calendar Labs to include in your planner!
