One of the greatest things about classical education is the emphasis on integration and making connections between all the subjects to one another. I try to keep my eyes open for those connections.
I don’t know much Latin yet. And I’ve never been able to keep all the different cloud names straight. That is, until I found out that all I need to know are the Latin roots.
And the great big bulb blinked, and I finally found a connection I understand.
I get really excited about stuff like this! Not only did I finally figure out how to distinguish between clouds, I also added some Latin vocabulary to the small “Latin” file in my brain.
I share this worksheet in hopes that it also helps others. Before piecing together the different roots to create new words, be sure to point out the cumulus, cirrus, and stratus clouds. The definitions are included, along with a picture to see those particular clouds.

We are also using this worksheet on Types of Clouds (from SuperTeacherWorksheets.com), which includes additional information on the different types of clouds.
