Now entering…. Kentucky! State #16 of 50-States-Before-They-Graduate. Stops for this trip were planned solely from the recommendations of Half-a-Hundred Acre Wood readers! For our Mid-Eastern States Itinerary, click here.
As we entered northern Kentucky, our first stop was The Creation Museum in Petersburg… If you’ve never been, you can go on a virtual tour of the museum by clicking here.
After touring the museum (which was amazing!), we strolled through the botanical gardens and fed a zorse and zonkey.
From The Creation Museum, we headed to Louisville, home of the Louisville Slugger Museum, where you can also take a virtual tour.
An added highlight for this trip was the LEGO exhibit! Wow!
Though we could not take photos of the factory, it was informative and fun! [We are really nuts about factories. By the way, do you know of any factories we should tour in any state? List ’em in the comments!]
Then we were off to the Kentucky Derby Museum at Churchill Downs, where we ended up seeing a real horse race! You can download all sorts of interesting information and recipes from Kentucky Derby Central and can even take a virtual tour of this museum, too! Gary wanted me to buy a hat from here, but… can you imagine me in a big, floppy, pink hat with a purple bow about one foot in diameter? [Me, either.]
We met Mine That Bird, who was not all that social of an animal. He was supposed to kick that ball or something, but he just stood there with his backside to us.
As we wrapped up our short tour of northern Kentucky (we need to make a trip back to Louisville!), we ended up with three serious jockeys of our own…
We once again had tons of fun in Kentucky! So… have you been to Kentucky? We’d love to read your story!
