This post has taken me seven weeks to write (despite the fact that it’s one of the shortest). I like to think that I inherited my tendency towards procrastination from my dear mama.
…but I don’t think she has ever procrastinated.
Nevertheless, I am attempting to capture memories for our annual blog book before they all escape my scatterbrained mind. Let’s see… I’m trying to think… (not very effectively).
If we rewind to about eight weeks ago, we would see Stephen in black light.
The week before he invited his homeschool co-op class to the performance with Morty the Troll…
…and we invite you now to watch the performance via Youtube! Stephen was the lead TobyMac puppet in Speak Life and had supporting roles in Shut the Door and Forgiveness.
The other songs for this year’s puppet show included Shackles, God’s Not Dead, and Heart of a Champion. Our church holds a puppet show every year for our Fall Harvest Celebration. (It’s one of Stephen’s favorite activities, and his brothers love watching the show so much that we watch videos of it throughout the year.)
For this week, we learned how to make a model lung…
… and read several stories related to Westward Expansion.
Above is a photo of many of the books we own related to the life of a pioneer. From the above, we especially enjoyed the silly tall tale Apples to Oregon: Being the (Slightly) True Narrative of How a Brave Pioneer Father Brought Apples, Peaches, Pears, Plums, Grapes, and Cherries (and Children) Across the Plains (an illustrated picture book with a ridiculously long title) and Wagon Wheels, Level 3, Grade 2-4 (I Can Read ) (an illustrated reader based on a true story). We have not yet finished What Was the Gold Rush? but started it when we decided to pan for gold in the middle of the kitchen. (Levi likes the part about Levi Strauss, of course. In fact, he loves wearing Levi’s because it makes him feel like his clothes are labeled with his name.)
As far as other accomplishments (or non-accomplishments)… Isaac tried to do a sit-up.
And this wraps up about how I feel right now trying to catch up on our posts. (ha!)
In reality some of our week 10 plans did not happen until four weeks later, but that’s what I love about our winter break! Don’t you just love a good long winter break?!?
