When you’re on the road and have a deadline to meet (as we sometimes do when traveling for my husband’s job)… and you’re aiming to specifically meet a friend you haven’t seen in years which takes you off-the-beaten path… sometimes you find a random place to explore.
In this case, we stopped at Dunn’s Falls, a waterfall built in the 1850s by an Irish immigrant named John Dunn.
Although the grist mill wasn’t operating, we were able to tour each floor of the grist mill, which became a great lesson in simple machines! (I’ve never visited a grist mill where you can see all of it like this!)
We’re sure to be back through Mississippi… Where should we stop next time?
50-States-Before-They-Graduate
Our family aims to visit all 50 states together before our boys graduate from high school. To take a look at some of the places we’ve been, visit our Traveling America posts. If you’d like to offer suggestions for places to visit in the 50 states, we would love your input! Feel free to leave your comments and suggestions for your favorite state(s), or virtually visit the other states we’ve visited to offer your recommendations on those pages! We’d love to read about your own family’s adventures… or to simply know about destinations you’ve enjoyed!
