How about an inside scoop on the when, why, what, and how of our homeschool journey? Here’s how our family ended up homeschooling, why we chose Classical Conversations for a season in a our homeschool journey, and how this website started, along with (I hope) a few words of encouragement no matter which educational method or program you use. Homeschooling has been an incredible gift, and I am so thankful for it.
Not that busy homeschooling moms have half an hour to listen to me ramble about my struggles and shortcomings, but perhaps you might find it encouraging to hear how God can use someone as flawed as me?
The bottom line is… if he can use me, he can most definitely use you.
Please note that we are no longer using Classical Conversations. It was through deep personal conviction that we decided to part from CC entirely. Read more about that decision here, or scroll towards the bottom of this post for more details.
This interview was conducted by Classical Conversations Marketing Director Noble Gibbens and includes thoughts in response to the following questions…

For the record, I avoided this interview for months because I felt ridiculous about being interviewed when I am such a flawed individual. But… I finally came to recognize that if God could use me in this, it is totally worth feeling and looking ridiculous. My prayer is that this is not only an encouragement to parents but that it truly points us to look to God’s goodness and strength as we walk this humbling homeschool journey. Without Him, I am nothing, and I can do nothing. But with Him? I can do all things! It’s not in my efforts but His. To God be the glory!
Please note that we are no longer in Classical Conversations. Much of what is in this interview was based on a certain season of our lives. But…
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1
And the season for us to participate in Classical Conversations has come to a close. Our family must follow God’s will for our lives which no longer includes using the Classical Conversations curriculum/program. Rest assured I don’t say this lightly. We arrived here through many tears and prayers. It has been a season of surrender for us.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11
It’s easy to look ahead to the future and think you have it all under control. Little did I know that I had not actually figured out what God was doing in our lives “from beginning to end.” My greatest piece of advice at this point is…
Trust the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your path. Proverbs 3:5-6
May God bless and direct your homeschool journey, regardless of which curriculum, program, or method you choose to use. As fellow homeschoolers, our family is here to support, encourage, and equip you in any way that we can!
