Twenty-twenty has been quite a year to remember.
Let’s recount our adventures from January to December.
Discovery Park, Winter Jam, and David’s Fourteen
All came before the days of mask quarantine.
We visited a museum full of machine pinballs
And hopped all around to Tennessee waterfalls.
We toured Old Stone Fort while COVID we did avoid
Rock Island and Burgess were the parks we enjoyed.
For Isaac’s sixth we embraced our superhero powers,
And for Stephen’s seventeenth, we played board games for hours.
In September we rode a little red ferry,
For we thought a road trip would make us more merry.
Cave-in-Rock and Garden of the Gods we enjoyed
As we traveled along in Southeast Illinois.
Then we saw caves and waterfalls in south Indiana
All of this driving drove Mom-Mom bananas
Then we saw model trains at the EnterTRAINment Junction.
The boys were so giddy that they barely could function.
Then we beheld the crown jewel of our trip.
Kentucky’s Ark Encounter, where the wind and rain whipped.
And we trekked across parks: Natural Bridge, Daniel Boone,
And Cumberland Gap, where Boone shot raccoon.
Then, at the end of it all, we enjoyed the day
Riding the Big South Fork Scenic Railway.
Not just the railroad, but the national park, too.
We toured the Twin Arches and our trip was through.
In November we camped out at Oak Mountain State Park
We explored Helen Keller’s Home, an inspiring landmark.
Thanksgiving had us traveling west to OK.
At Quartz Mountain Resort, Granny with us did stay.
We hiked trails and enjoyed the great Altus Lake
Then to Aunt Tracy’s we headed, a turkey to bake.
In Southeast Oklahoma we climbed Robber’s Cave
And hiked Heavener Runestone. Oh, the memories we made!
For Levi’s twelfth birthday, we had loads of fun
Shooting each other with massive Nerf guns.
Then jobs for the boys delivering holiday cheer
Tells us that Christmas is practically here!
As we consider the year, both the happy and sad,
We have news to share, news to make glad.
Despite all the frustration, the tension and strife,
We can remember that it’s a wonderful life,
For a babe was born in Bethlehem town.
The Light of the World from heaven came down
To grant us great joy, true freedom from chains
A day without heartache, the pains, and the strains.
He is our Cornerstone, Our Sure Foundation
A Mighty Fortress, the Mighty God, the hope of all nations.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
Merry Christmas from the Ferrell family!
